White, James (Jim) Oman, 79, of Drew Nursing Home in Sackville and formerly of Salisbury, passed away peacefully with his brother at his side Sunday, July 12, at Sackville Memorial Hospital.
James was born in Joggins and was a son of the late Oman and Elda (Rogers) White. He was a retired pastry chef and kitchen manager at the Moncton City Hospital and owned and operated a beef farm. James was a member of Salisbury Baptist Church, CUPE and a life member of the Salisbury Legion Branch #31. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the Princess Patricia’s Light Infantry.
He is survived by his daughter Marilyn McMackin (Ken) of Salisbury; cherished grandchildren Kathryn of Calgary and James (Melissa) of Moncton; sisters Judy Gagnon, Aggie Stolz, Nora White (Reg), Patsy Mitchell (David) and Carolyn VanBuskirk; brothers Perry (Marg) and Borden (Elaine). Also survived by sisters-in-law Dot MacWilliam, Marion MacWilliam and “My other Daughter” Becky Close and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by beloved wife Doris (MacWilliam) (2003); brothers Charlie and Eddie and sister Elaine Halverson.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) visiting will be Wednesday July 15, 2-4 and 7-9 pm with a Salisbury Legion, Tribute to a Veteran Service Wednesday at 6:45 pm. The funeral will be Thursday July 16 at 11 am in the chapel with Rev. Clarence Clarke officiating. Interment will follow at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.
