The death of Kathleen Mae Gillrie occurred on Friday, March 4th, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born May 13th, 1929 in Inglisville, NS, she was the daughter of the late Percival and Katherin Mae (Daniels) Whitman and wife to David "Bud" Gillrie. Kathleen is survived by her husband, Bud; her children, Steven Wayne Gillrie (Susan) of Victoria, BC, Kevin Bruce Gillrie of Fredericton, NB and Catherine Mae Evans (Michael) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, David Evan, Christine Evans, Daniel Gillrie and James Gillrie all of Fredericton, NB, Francesca Gillrie of Moncton, NB, Derek Gillrie of Halifax, NS and Adam Gillrie of Victoria, BC; sisters, Hilda Naugler of Paradise, NS and Doris Vienot of Kentville, NS. She was predeceased by her parents; one sister, Evelyn Richardson and one brother, Roland Whitman. Kathleen was a former employee with Health and Welfare Canada and was a member of Greenwood Drive Baptist Church and a sixty year member of Eastern Star Unity Chapter.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home on Monday, March 7th, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Eastern Star Unity Chapter will hold a memorial tribute at 7 pm, Monday evening. A memorial service will be held in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, March 8th, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Gordon Cook officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date.
