HUBLEY, Lavina Harriet – 95, of Tidal View Manor in Yarmouth, passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on February 26, 2011. Born January 3, 1916 in Brazil Lake, Yarmouth Co., she was a daughter of the late Osborne and Ophelia (Nichols) Whitehouse. Lavina was a faithful member of the Wesleyan Church. She previously worked in Central Supply at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. She was an avid quilter. She is survived by daughter, Joan (Jim) Bragdon, Delaware; sons, Bruce Hubley (Janice), London, Ont.; Dale (Heather) Hubley, Yarmouth; brothers, John Whitehouse, Bridgewater; Warren Whitehouse, Moncton, N.B.; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband, Griffin Hubley; sons, David and Ansel Hubley; brothers, Ansel and Gordon Whitehouse; sister, Thelma Kellam. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Monday, February 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral service was held Tuesday, March 1 at 2 p.m., Pastor Dale Robertson officiated. Interment followed in Brazil Lake Cemetery. Donations in Lavina’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Port Maitland Wesleyan Church.
