Marilyn Cameron, age 71, of David Street, River Ryan, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in River Ryan, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Ella (Abraham) MacNeil.
Marilyn was a former member of St. Michael’s Church, River Ryan. She was very outspoken and you knew where you stood with her; but it was always conveyed in a compassionate manner. Marilyn had a heart of gold and a deep love for her family and grandchildren. Nobody left her house hungry; she was a great cook and loved to bake.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 50 years, Stanley Cameron; one daughter, Tanya Murray, New Waterford; three sons, Donald ‘Donnie’, Wilfred (Michelle), both in New Waterford and Stan ‘Tiggs’, Ontario.
Also surviving are Marilyn’s sister, Ramona Morrison, Fort McMurray, as well as the love of her life, Marilyn’s six precious grandchildren, Jessica, Timmy, Brittany, Cameron, Courtney and Alex.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Patricia, Isabelle and Sue.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. A funeral mass will be held at a later date in St. Leonard’s Church, followed by interment in St. Michaels Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy for Marilyn, memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
