*HAWKINS, Dr. David– Dr. David Hawkins was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, in 1937 and ended his earthly life peacefully, in the ICU of the Ottawa General Hospital on Saturday, February 12, 2011, following complications of acute respiratory illness. He is truly missed by his wife Annette Felix and his children James, Susan, John, Andrea, Katie, stepdaughter Sarah and their families, including his 11 grandchildren.
David is widely known and loved as a clinician, mentor, scientist, teacher, humorous and witty raconteur, friend and supporter of students and colleagues, general enthusiast, adventurer, skier, sailor, innovator, cook, party host and patriotic Newfoundlander.
A Memorial Service will be held at Memorial University, in the main auditorium of the Health Sciences Centre, 4 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011.
