Jacob Wesselius
Jacob Wesselius, 72, from Wheaton Settlement passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Sneek, Netherlands, he was a son of the late Sjoerd and Lubbrigje (DeBoer) Wesselius. Jake was a retired Dairy Farmer. He always said "farming is my hobby, and my hobby is farming." In the Netherlands he graduated from Agriculture College, was a Deacon in Christian Reformed Church, a member of the Chess Club, involved in local Community Theatre, was secretary/treasurer for Christian Farmer's Organization and in his younger years he was treasurer for youth group. Jake, Frederika and family immigrated to Canada May 2, 1983 and settled in the River Glade area. He was an adherent at the First North River Baptist Church and a member of the worship choir. Jake was on the local milk committee and was a founding member and secretary for Southeastern Farmer's Co-op. His hobbies included egg searching in the Netherlands, deer hunting and spending time with family and friends. Jake is survived and sadly missed by his beloved wife of 45 years Frederika (Brinkman); children George (Heather), John (Debbie), Ron (Coralee), Albert (Arlene), Lucille Brennan (Joel), Fred (Tammy) and Grace Wiswell (Ryan); 25 cherished grandchildren; four sisters Hinke, Brechtje, Corrie and Tiny and one brother Jan Rouke; seven sisters in law; several brothers in law and nieces and nephews.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) with visiting Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 pm from the First North River Baptist Church with Rev. J. Kendell McRae officiating. Interment at Wheaton Settlement Cemetery at a later date.
