Richard 'Graham' Walsh

Born: January 22nd, 1925

Passed on: March 4th, 2011

A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and uncle, Graham Walsh, 86, died at home on March 4th, 2011. He showed strength and love right up until his last days with us.
A devoted family man, Graham leaves behind his wife Sadie (MacVarish) the love of his life for fifty nine years and their four children, Linda (Joseph) MacNeil, Richard (Eveline Schombara) Walsh, Wendy (Dave) Rumbles and Martin (Heather Estey) Walsh.
He gave us the kind of love that is unconditional, unshakable and unquestionable. Through his quiet strength and loving ways he has helped mold us into a close and loving family.
He was truly proud of his children and grandchildren, Lachlann, Adam, Terrance, Cristina and Jarrett. We thank him for loving us, allowing us to love him and for always being there for us. We are proud to be his children and grandchildren. He will always be with us in our hearts as we know we are with him in his. Graham is also survived by his sister, Janet (Nanna) Bearnes.
Graham is a proud veteran of WWII. Joining at the age of 17, he served for several years, 1944-1946, in Europe where he was wounded numerous times, earning several medals. For 43 years he worked on the Steel Plant, doing a variety of jobs. He retired from his position as foreman of the Heavy Equipment Mobile Division; a job which suited his strong work ethic and his natural mechanical ability. It was at this time that he took up golf and curling. Many at Seaview will remember seeing Graham and his buddies traveling around on the “Hooterville Trolley.” He was known and liked by many.
Graham is the son of the late Thomas and Kathleen (James) Walsh of Inglis Street. He was predeceased by granddaughter Marissa, brothers, Patrick, Charles, Thomas, Kenneth; sisters, Theresa, Alice James, Marge MacPherson, Bessie Baker, Mary Mercer, Helen MacLean and Madeline MacKinnon. Graham Walsh has left behind a wonderful legacy of love. He will walk with us forever. You are our hero!
