Christina Marion Doyle (Wallace), 66 of Enfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at home after a long and courageous journey with cancer. Christina was born in Summerside, and was a daughter of the late Corinne (McIsaac) and Vernon Doyle. During her passing and in recent months Christina has been surrounded by her loving husband, Al, her loving family, many friends, and Sisters from St. Martha, Charlottetown. Christina joined the Sisters of St. Martha in 1963 and taught school in P.E.I. between 1963 and 1999 at Glengarry, Millcove, Lennox Island, St. Teresa, and Morell. Regardless of where Christina taught, she was appreciated and loved by students, staff and parents. From 1999 until 2008 Sister Christina was administrator and hostess of Spring House, Springhill, N.S., which is a home providing comfort to families when visiting inmates, a ministry provided by the Christian Council for Reconcilliation. Christina's contribution at Springhill is noted by her being honoured by the Canadian Families and Corrections Network in 2007, in recognition of her outstanding service at Spring House to assist families affected by incarceration. She was also recognized by the Christian Council by having a bedroom named in her honour at Spring House. Christina is survived by her loving husband, Al Wallace, Enfield; sister, Audrey (Walter) Callaghan, Miminegash; brother, Patrick Doyle, Summerside; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; Al's children, Stephen (Tawny) Bedford; Blair (Beth), Halifax; Susan (Derek), Calgary, Alta.; David (Sandi), New Glasgow; and ten grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Norma Blanchard and a brother, Jackie Doyle. Visitation will be held at Riverview United Church, Elmsdale, N.S. on Monday, March 7 from noon until time of the memorial service to celebrate Christina's life at 2 p.m., Reverend Beth Brehaut and Father Andrew Rembarczyk officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, March 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Rooney's Funeral Home, Alberton. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday March 9 at St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church, Lot 7. Interment will take place at a later date in the Parish cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie and Rooney's Funeral Home, Alberton. Family flowers only, please. Donations in her loving memory may be made to East Hants Palliative Care or a charity of your choice. Christina stressed the importance of including in her obituary her appreciation of the love and care she received from Dr. Mark Doreen, Dr. Rob Rutledge, and Lynn Short of the Dickson Centre; Dr. Courtney Smith and Cathy MacMillan of East Hants Palliative Care; her family doctor, Dr. John MacDonald; and also the many visits by the VON to her home in Enfield.
