GOREHAM, Diana Ledrue, 98, Lower Woods Harbour, N.S. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She passed away peacefully at Tidal View Manor, Yarmouth, N.S., surrounded by some of her family. Mom was born on August 4, 1912 at Upper Woods Harbour, the daughter of James Letson and Valeria Etta (Jeffrey) Nickerson. Mom was a very loving mother, a cheerful lady who loved to sing or hum while she was cooking. She really enjoyed listening to country singing, going to the Seniors’ dances and hearing someone play the piano. Her hands were always busy doing something. She loved to make sailboat and other pieced quilts and almost everyone in her community bought a “Grammie Diana quilt” for their home or camp. She made braided mats using scraps of clothing and enjoyed tending the rhubarb, blueberries and strawberries that she planted in her small backyard garden. Diana leaves to mourn, a son, Evan Clemen (Elizabeth) Goreham of Upper Woods Harbour; three daughters, Bonita Ledrue Slevin of Barrington Passage, Susan Louise (Wm. R.H.) Malone of Upper Woods Harbour and Averil Patrice (Gregory) Berko of Calgary, Alta.; one daughter-in-law, Helen Irene (Greenwood) Goreham of Lower Woods Harbour. She also leaves ten grandchildren, Bonnie Atkinson & Kimberley Zwicker of Woods Harbour, Bernadine (John) Babin & Heidi Malone of Eel Brook, Sean (Erica) Slevin of Edmonton, Alta., Dmetri (Erin) Berko, Andreas (Kathryn) Berko & Nathan (Barbara) Berko of Calgary, Alta., Vanessa (Michael) Malone of Abram’s River, and Lieut. Joshua (HuiJing) Malone of Petawawa, Ontario; fourteen great grandchildren, Jacob Haley, Rebecca & Luke Babin, Hunter & Violet Slevin, Andrew & Jennifer Zwicker, Desmond Rose, Nathaniel, Brianna & Jesse Malone, Martina, Gabriel & Pearson Berko, Rhoen Berko and Aurora Berko; one great, great grandson, Noah Babin. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Sylvester Keith Goreham, and one son, Roland Ellis Goreham. Special thanks for the loving care given to our mother by the Nurses and Caregivers of Tidal View Manor. Your help and empathy was greatly appreciated. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 7 at Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington, 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Rod Guptil officiating. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Lower Woods Harbour. A reception will follow at Woods Harbour Wesleyan Church.
