Wellington (‘Welly’) Austin Halliday, 73, of Digby, passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital with his family by his side on March 2, 2011. Born in Digby, Welly was the son of the late Victor and Myrtle (Vantassell) Halliday. Welly was an avid golfer and scalloped fished for several years before joining the Department of Fisheries for 27 years. He was a devoted father and grandfather. Welly is survived by his wife Joan; son, Richard (Helen); daughter, Shaunda (Kevin) McCully; grandchildren, Austin, Douglas, Kasha and Kalesha; brother, Dale (Barb) Halliday; and sister, Heather (Roger) Hirtle. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. No visitation. Graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
