LORNE – Teddy (Zig) L. Mattinson, age 78 of Lorne, Pictou County, passed away Tuesday, July 14th, 2009, in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family.
Born in Oxford, he was a son of the late James and Dolly (Miller) Mattinson.
Teddy had worked many years with Tidewater Construction and later retired from Pictou County School Board. His favorite past time was to be with family and friends at his Seafoam cottage playing cards.
Surviving is his wife, the former Sharon Gratto; sons, Teddy (Joyce) Mattinson; Shaun (Tracy) Mattinson; daughters, Lorraine (Raymond) Cooley; Terri (Aaron) Conklin; grandchildren: Trevor (Jenny) Holmes, Shawna (Jeffery) Wallace, Jamie Holmes, T.J. (Lauren) Mattinson, Tiffany and Rachael Mattinson, Laura and Katelynn Conklin, Haley and Emma Mattinson; great-grandchildren, Luke and Brandon Wallace; a foster son, Donald Stewart.
He was predeceased by a son, Jimmy Mattinson; and a foster son, Vincent Michael Bates.
His remains will rest in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home for visitation from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, July 16th. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday from the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. A private family burial will take place in the Lorne Cemetery.
Family flowers only please. Donations may be made in his memory to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital.
A public reception will follow the burial in the Lorne Hall.
