Baxter, Raymond Frederick — 80, of St. Croix, Hants County, passed away Monday, Feb. 28, 2010 in the Q.E. II Health Sciences Centre. Born on April 15, 1930 in West Paradise, Annapolis County, he was the son of the late Avery and Leta Baxter. Raymond worked as a welder most of his working life, working for the Department of Highways; N.S. Tractors and Fundy Gypsum. He loved his dog Hugger and enjoyed a good joke. Raymond also enjoyed going to the dances at the legion where he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #9, in Windsor. Surviving are his wife, Agnes Hart (nee Lewis); daughter, Judi (Steve Jones) Baxter, Falmouth; stepsons, Jon (Shirley) Hart, Cadillac, Saskatchewan, Blaine (Margaret) Hart, St. Croix, and Jeffrey (Connie) Hart, Fredericton, New Brunswick; grandchildren, Sara Lee (Mike) Whitman, Dartmouth, Tara Baxter (Gordon Johnson), Halifax, Miranda Hart, Fredericton, and Alex Hart, Fredericton; great-grandchildren, Josh and Kyle Whitman, Dartmouth, Wynter Rose and Bryce Baxter, Halifax; sister, Irene (Jack) Barlow, Wilmot; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was held 3 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dennis Leamont officiated. Interment was in the Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix. Family flowers only. Donations in memory were requested to be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the SPCA.
