NEW GLASGOW – Joseph Gordon Sheehan, 82, of Helene Street, New Glasgow, passed away March 6, 2011, at home.
Born May 18, 1928 in New Glasgow where he resided all his life in the family home, he was a son of the late Daniel E. and Mary (King) Sheehan.
He was a former employee of Maritime Steel, New Glasgow.
Gordon is survived by brothers: Doug (Mary), New Glasgow; Angus (Carol), Ontario; sisters: Frances Thompson, Trenton; Mary “Dolly” (Vincent) MacDonald, Greenwood, Pictou County; Elizabeth Millen, New Glasgow; sister-in-law, Vivian Sheehan, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow; special nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers: Daniel “Bud”, Raymond and David; sister-in-law, Gloria Sheehan; brothers-in-law, Robert Thompson and Warren Millen.
His remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for visiting from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday from where a celebration of Gordon’s life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday with Father Gary MacPherson presiding. Reception to follow in the funeral home with burial to take place at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery, New Glasgow.
Donations in memory of Gordon may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Arthritis Society of Nova Scotia or to a charity of one’s choice.
