It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of April Kelly on March 6, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, she was the only daughter of Jessie (Penney) Hillier.
April was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, New Waterford. She was as passionate about her work as she was about her family. Early in her career she worked at the Children’s Training Centre in Sydney. She was later employed with the Department of Community Services in North Sydney, before illness forced her to retire.
April was totally devoted to the love of her life, Jimmy, and their three children. They spent many summers in Ingonish where they formed lifelong friendships.
She is survived by her mother, Jessie Hillier; husband Jimmy, three children, Jonathan, Katie and Steven; brothers, Stanley (Vicki) and Charles (Cynthia); many aunts, uncles, and a large extended family.
April was predeceased by her father, Charlie Hillier and stepfather, Eric Rose.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral service will take place Thursday, March 10 at 2 p.m. in All Saints Anglican Church with Rev. Judi Phillips officiating. Burial will be in All Saints Anglican Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at All Saints Church Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the All Saints Building Fund.
