It is with deep sadness that the family of Marie Gladys Poirier, loving wife of Gerald Poirier, announce her passing, which occurred on Monday, March 7, 2011 at Bobby's Hope House. Born 1939 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ida (Friars) Lee-Steeves. Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved to knit, crochet and spend time with her family. Besides her husband, she is survived by her granddaughter Shyanne (Keith) Wilson of Hammond River; her precious great-grandchildren Carter and Carly whom she cherished so much; daughter Anna Steeves of Saint John; brothers Gordon (Gladys) Lee of Vernon, BC, Donald Patricia Lee of Dipper Harbour; sister Dianne (Robert) Schaefer of Grand Bay-Westfield; nephew Albert Martin and niece Nancy Hoffman; very special friend Brenda Smith and friend of 19 years Bill W. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Robert and Edward Lee and sisters Vivian Martin, Phyllis Allen, Connie Martin and Eleanor Mazton.
Following cremation, visitation will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. Saint John (646-2424) on Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
