It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother. Sandra passed away peacefully Monday, March 7, 2011, at the Glace Bay Hospital with her family by her side.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Alex ‘Yana’ and Mary (Boland) MacInnis.
Sandra was a woman of great Catholic faith. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who greeted everyone, both family and friends, with a hug and kiss.
Sandra is survived by her sons, Alex (Wendy), Todd (Kerri) Detcheverry; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Joanne (Ronnie) Leforte, Monica MacInnis (Bob); and one niece, Marie Leforte.
Besides her parents, Sandra was predeceased by her son, Kyte.
Visitation for Sandra will be held Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Cremation will follow. A funeral mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Monday, March 14 at St. Anthony’s Church, Glace Bay, with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall, all are welcome.
