February 19, 1945 - March 7, 2011. Passed peacefully away, after a lengthy illness, at the Health Sciences Centre, Joseph Hayward Maddox, loving husband, father and grandfather. Left with fond and loving memories his wife of 43 years, Elizabeth (Coles); daughter Lesley Anne (Jamie Quinn), PEI; granddaughter Sydney, who would light up his evening with her phone calls; grandson James; daughter Erin (Gary Alexander); precious granddaughter Tyra and Colie, who brought smiles to him when no one else could; special nephews: Brent Harding and William Butler; special nieces: Hayley Doyle, Debbie Price and Katie Noseworthy; brothers: Bernard (Barbara) and David (Cathy); sisters: Emeria Martin and Margaret Poore; special friends: Jim and Paula Kinsella, Dave Penney, Johnny Carey, Maureen Walsh, Catherine and Frank McGrath, E.J. and Dot Joy and Joanne Woolridge and baby Maddox Joseph; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A special thank you to the staff of the Hoyles Eacasoni 2 East for the exceptional care and love they showed Joe; also a special thank you to the Dialysis Staff of the Health Sciences Centre, staff of 4 South A and 4 North A HSC, Sr. Dolorosa Brennan, Father Browne and Father Roche. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Thursday, March 10th from 10 a.m. - 12 noon, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Friday, March 11th at 2 p.m. from Mary Queen of Peace Church. Cremation to follow with inurnment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery on Saturday, March 12th at 9:30 a.m. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the Vera Perlin Society or the Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
