PETERS - Alvin John of Swift Current passed away at his residence on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the age of 59 years. Alvin was born in Swift Current on October 14, 1951 to Bernard and Maria Peters. He attended Oman School for his elementary schooling and graduated from Beatty Collegiate in 1969. Early in his teen years he was given the nick name “Tweeny” by a close friend. That name stuck with him. Many of his friends still referred to him be that name. He was predeceased by his parents Bernard and Maria Peters, numerous aunts and uncles and cousins. Alvin will be lovingly remembered and missed by his siblings; Kenneth (Sharon) Peters of Swift Current, SK; Leander Dick (Shirley) Peters of Regina, SK; Gary (Joan) Peters of Leamington, ON; Shirley (Lynn) Bratvold of Medicine Hat, AB; Stan (Kathy) Peters of Swift Current, SK; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, March 4, 2011, at 2:00 pm, from the Chapel of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK, with Pastor Alex Allen officiating. “Amazing Grace” was sung by the congregation. The Eulogy was given by Kathy Peters and the meditation was on Psalm 23. Special music was “Go Rest High on That Mountain” by Vince Gill on CD. In memory of Alvin Peters, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society and The Center (Youth Center), downtown Swift Current would be appreciated by the family.
