The death occurred peacefully at the Prince Edward Home surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 of Verna Muriel Stewart in her 90th year. Born on Feb. 23, 1922 at Springfield West, she was the youngest and last surviving child of George F. and Edith (MacDougall) Ellis. Verna is lovingly remembered by her son J. Kaye Stewart (Eileen), Charlottetown; by her grandchildren Andrew Stewart (Jodi), Campbellton; Sarah Clark (Fraser), Charlottetown; Matt Stewart (Brandy), Charlottetown and by her two great-grandchildren Morgan and Maggie Stewart. She is also remembered by several nieces and nephews. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home, Charlottetown, from where the funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 1 p.m. Interment later in People’s Cemetery, Charlottetown. Visitation Thursday 5-7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Stroke Unit of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital or to the Prince Edward Home. The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of the Prince Edward Home for all the personal care and attention given to Verna.
