Helena Rose ‘Grace’ McMaster, 85, of Foyer Pere Fiset Guest Home, Cheticamp, died July 13, 2009, at the guest home.
Born in York, Toronto, she was the daughter of the late William and Mabel Ellen (Jordan) Bulger.
A Second World War Air Force practical nurse and cook.
Helena ‘Grace’ was a loving, kind and gentle woman who was devoted to her family and a loyal friend. She created many adventures for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren which has made them very close to each other today.
She loved the arts, was a beautiful singer, enjoyed fishing, sketching and writing. Grace was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles. She enjoyed playing crib and tarabish card games with her friends in Margaree Harbour and New Waterford. Grace had an unshakable faith and the gift of bringing out the best in others through her wisdom, wit and incredible sense of humour. She instilled in her children an appreciation of the beauty of nature and the simple pleasures of life whether it be berry picking or admiring a sunrise or sunset. We will miss her dearly.
She is survived by two sons, Douglas (Marion) McMaster, Fox Lake, Alta., Adrian (Heather) McMaster, East Lake Ainslie; three daughters, Marilyn (Leo) MacNeil, Stayner, Ont., Rhonda (Chris) Lockhart, Kentville, and Evelyn (Cyril) Boudreau, Cheticamp; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Bill) Albers, Michelle (Tim) Penman, Wendy (Richard) Mills, Lisa (Ray) Powell, Jason (Tanya) MacNeil, Scott (Jaesoon) McMaster, Meghan McMaster, Adrian McMaster, Paul Drysdale, Nelson Drysdale, Dena Drysdale, Chris McMaster, Laura (Trevor) Michaud, Ayla McMaster, Amos McMaster, Helena Brennan, Jason (Tara) Boudreau, Crystal Boudreau, Grant Boudreau and Paige Boudreau; great-grandchildren, Elisabeth, Kelly, Jordan, Reginald, Shauna, Sierra, Jessica, Sarah Grace, Brianna, Duncan, Haidan, Madison, Greg, Teneal and baby Boudreau.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Dr. Russell McMaster, second husband, William Oliver, daughter, Mary, three brothers, Jim, Art and Bill and by one sister, Jean.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Cheticamp Funeral Home today (Thursday) from 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in St. Peter’s Church, Cheticamp, Fr. Peter LeBlanc officiating. Interment at Mount Carmel Cemetery, New Waterford at a later date.
