COTTREAU, Lawrence James – 77, Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born March 10, 1933 in Wedgeport, he was a son of the late John and Lucie (LeBlanc) Cottreau. Lawrence was a jack of all trades, having worked as a carpenter, a fisherman and in autobody repair. He enjoyed his antique car and playing pool. He is survived by his companion, Lillian Semler, as well as by his children, Shirley (David) Muise, Caroline Pothier, Norma Cottreau, all of Hamilton, Ont.; Brian (Wendy) Cottreau, Alberta; Denise (Wayne) Doucette, Wedgeport; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Madeline Hubbard, Annie Cottreau, Estelle Boudreau, all of Wedgeport; brothers, Clifford (Betty) Cottreau and Charles Cottreau, both of Wedgeport. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Arthur and Leo. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 Wednesday, with prayers at 8 p.m., both in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport. The funeral mass was held on Thursday, March 10 at 10:30 a.m., Father Gregory Sampson, c.j.m., officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery fund.
