The family of Leo John Malone regrets to announce the his passing, on March 10, 2011. Leo was born in Goshen on September 19, 1922, and was the son of the late Thomas and Annie (O'Connor) Malone. Leo loved the great outdoors, working in the woods, and was a very successful farmer and developer. His greatest joy, however, was his family who he always enjoyed having around him. Leo is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gertrude; his children: Colleen Bannister (Lawrence) of Goshen, Margaret Malone Currie (Dave) of Fredericton, Fred Malone (Irene) of Sussex, Mary Malone Ryan (Frank) of North Carolina, John Malone (Louize) of Sussex and Richard Malone (Rosemary) of Hampton; five sisters: Marie Riley-Murphy of Saint John, Irene Lawlor of Saint John, Mildred O'Connor (Walter) of RI, Josephine LeBlanc of Ontario and Elsie McMillan (Wayne) of Belleisle; 15 grandchildren; Mike Bannister (Bridget) Doug Bannister (Michelle), Sally Conohan (Craig), John Fullerton (Erin), Laura, Patrick and Emily Malone, Molly, Caleigh and Luke Ryan, Madison, Sam and Mathieu Malone, Allie and Kate Malone; seven great grandchildren Shanna and Abby Bannister, Chloe and Cameron Bannister, Ellie and Celia Conohan and Jack Fullerton; as well as several nieces and nephews. Leo is predeceased by his first wife Elizabeth (Crowe), three brothers: Warren, James and Raymond and his sister, Kay Long.
Mr. Leo John Malone of Sussex passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on March 10, 2011 at the age of 88.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Francis Xavier RC Church on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 11:00am. The interment will take place at Wards Creek Cemetery at a later date.
