UHLMAN, James Addison “Jim” – 67 of Greenwood passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville with his family at his side. Born in Digby, he was a son of Olive (Johnson) Uhlman, Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown and the late Norman Uhlman. Jim was a former 14 year employee of McDonnell Douglas Corporation, Toronto and in 1979 returned to Nova Scotia. Throughout the remainder of his working life he was employed as a carpenter with various local contractors, retiring from A.W. Allen’s, Middleton. It was in this vocation that Jim demonstrated his skill as a finish carpenter and cabinet maker. He was an accomplished golfer and longtime member of Paragon Golf & Country Club, Kingston. It was while he was pursuing his passion for golf that he scored a hole in one on the 9th hole (Blue Monster) at the Doral Golf & Country Club in Florida and travelled twice to Scotland and played the Old Course at St. Andrews. Surviving besides his mother Olive are brothers David (Norma), Kingston, Jamaica; Murray, Halifax; Garry (Rita), Kingston, NS; Malcolm (Judy), Greenwood and Stephen, Grand Bay – Westfield, NB. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. At Jim’s request, there was not a funeral service.
