Hélène Richard, 96, wife of the late Gérard Richard, of Résidence Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur, Dieppe, formerly of Saint-Antoine, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the residence following a lengthy illness.
Born January 13, 1915 in Cocagne, NB, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Virginie (Bastarache) Arsenault.
She is survived by her eight daughters and seven sons: Géraldine McGraw (Henri), Sr. Hélèna Richard, May Castonguay (Ronald), Jeanne Bourgeois (late Paul), Thérèse Cellard (Julien), Yvette LeBlanc (Jean-Marie), Raymonde Léger (Eugène), Diane Richard (Gilles), Raymond (Anise), Louis (Rita), Léandre (Linda), Roger (Dorilla), Maurice (Norma), Paul (Ginette) and Marc (Diane); 33 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a son-in-law Paul Cormier; her sisters: Yvonne Richard, Mélina Allain, Florida Landry, Émerise Pelletier, Éveline Fillion and Alice Maillet; and her brother, Joséphat.
The family will receive condolences at Saint-Antoine L'Ermite R.C. Church Slumber Room in Saint-Antoine. Visiting hours are on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, March 17, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 until time of funeral mass celebrated at 7 p.m. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. In memory of Hélène, a donation to the Résidence Notre-Dame-du-Sacré Coeur would be appreciated.
