It is with broken hearts and deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend Sally Bodhaine of Reserve Mines. Sally passed away on Thursday March 10, 2011 at the Glace Bay General Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Born in Glace Bay on March 14, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ethel (Barrett) Sealey and was an active member of the Salvation Army Citadel, Glace Bay.
Sally was a devoted employee of thirty-two years at Victoria Heaven Nursing Home in New Aberdeen where she will be sadly missed. In her spare time Sally enjoyed knitting, crocheting, canvassing for the Red Shield Appeal and manning the Salvation Army Kettles at Superstore in Glace Bay where she was well known. But most of all she will be remembered as a family person, Sally enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially when they were taking family road trips, but most of all Sally enjoyed spending Saturdays with her daughter and best friend Judy. Sally was loved by all who met her because of her personality and sense of humor, often being called “the life of the party”.
She will be sadly missed by her son Paul (Monica) Reserve Mines; daughters Judy (Brian) Devison, Glace Bay, Gail (Sandy McDonald) White, Halifax, Betty Ann (Dan) Atwood, Ottawa, and Veronica (Dwane) MacLeod, Glace Bay; grandchildren Jonathan, Travis, Butch, Derrick, Cynthia, Whitney, Chelsea, Curtis, Nathan, Emily; great-grandchildren Payton and Audrina. Also surviving are her sisters Isabel, Maggie, Marcella, Helen; several nieces, nephews including special nieces Judy Pilling and Margie Butler, co-workers from Victoria Haven and lastly her four legged friends Dusty and Chelsey.
Sally was predeceased by her loving husband Paul ‘Butch’ (1981); sisters Phyllis and Edith, and step-brother Gordon Sealey.
