GATHERALL, John Valentine – (February 14, 1938 - March 5, 2011) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father in his 73rd year. Predeceased by wife Joan; parents, brothers and sisters Gatherall; and mother-in-law Margaret Melvin. Leaving to mourn children: Joan Marie, Gerry (Debbie) and Tony. Grandchildren: Emily, Molly and Maggie Houlihan; Zachary and Kaitlyn Gatherall. Brother Mike (Rosemary). Nephews and their children Al (Joanne Shortall) - Jack & Luke Gatherall; Michael (Heidi) - Clare, Bridget and Jane Gatherall. Special niece Andrea Gatherall. Nieces and nephew Boyle in New York. John also leaves sister and brothers-in-law: Michael Melvin (Ella Carew), Wynann Melvin (John Cross) and Peter Melvin (Margie). John loved his many friends – old and young. In particular he thought extremely highly of two people and they shared a special place in his heart - Michael O’Brien and Neilly O’Brien. He also leaves to mourn former son-in-law Keith Houlihan. In keeping with his wishes – cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral or visitation. The family will hold a remembrance and celebration of his life March 20, 3-6 p.m. at O’Brien’s Restaurant, Bay Bulls. All are welcome.
