Vandla Berniece Ostlund passed away on July 14, 2009 at Pineview Lodge in Nipawin.
Vandla was born in Wadena, SK on September 20, 1926 to Thure and Mabel Nelson. She was joined later by a brother, Melvin at Hendon, SK
In 1936 the family moved to Snowden, SK. This was when she met her future husband, William (Bill) Ostlund. In 1947 they were married. Bill was a bricklayer then and tried to keep up with the shifty trade. They lived in Saskatoon, Calgary, Lloydminster and Prince Albert before Bill became an accountant with the D.N.R. Construction Brand.
In 1970 they moved to Waskesin and McPhee Lake where Van enjoyed a very pleasant life. After early retirement they relocated to the original Ostlund farm at Choiceland. After sixteen happy years they moved to Choiceland. In 2007 health reasons made a move to Pineview Lodge a necessity.
Vandla was a talented music lover, starting with a violin at a tender age. Then the accordion became her instrument and she played for many dances and parties.
Van was predeceased by her parents and brother. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her husband, Bill.
Private Family Service was held. Memorial tributes may be made to Pineview Lodge c/o Nipawin & District Health Foundation.
