Emily MacLellan

The death of Emily Alfreda (Hill) MacLellan occurred at the Spencer Home on March 3, 2011. Her funeral service was held at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (506-364-1300) on Saturday, March 12 with burial to take place at a later date. Formerly of Sackville, and born in Truro, NS, she was a daughter of the late George and Eva (McCurdy) Hill. Emily graduated from Nova Scotia Teachers College and went on to Mount Allison University to get her BSc and later BEd. Emily was a teacher for over 30 years in Fredericton and Sackville, NB and was always actively involved with her students; and had chaperoned them on many wonderful trips abroad. Emily and Angus's house was always open to friends and family, everyone received a hearty welcome. The MacLellan home became famous as a gathering point for Mount A pals and the many friends she and Angus made along life's journey. One of their favorite parties was to entertain all the grandchildren on Boxing Day each year, "no parents allowed". Emily will be sadly missed by her three sons, Charles (Mary Lou) of Saint John, Hugh (Margaret Rose) of Sackville, and Allan (Wanda) of Cocagne Cape; brother Bob (Ethel) Hill, Simcoe, ON and sister Marion (Ted) Olcott, New Jersey, USA; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Angus; brothers, Ted and Charles, and sister, Marg.
