Joan Bartlet
It is with great sadness the family announce the death of Joan Bartley of Saint John, who passed away at home on March 12, 2011. Born in Montreal, PQ in May of 1940 a daughter to the late William John Sr, and Grace A. (Hillrich) Burns. In her earlier years Joan worked at the Airport Restaurant and for the Dairy Queen at the Loch Lomond Mall. In later years she was a receptionist for H & R Block and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #2 Lower Westside. Joan enjoyed crochet and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her husband Nelson Bartley of Saint John; son Andrew Jones of Montreal; daughters Heather Gratton (Paul) of Vancouver, BC and Cindy Jones of Quebec; brothers William Burns (Cathy) of Saint John and David Burns of Toronto, ON; sisters Doris Bradley of Fairfield, Heather Burns of South Portland, ME and Carol Rouleau (Guy) of Fairfield; brother-in-law Jacques Renaud of Fairfield care giver and friend Michelle Hebert of Saint John; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews; great and great-great nieces and nephews, friends and feline companion she adored , Joey. Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her son Kenneth Jones; brothers Ralph and Robert “Butch” and sister Dianne Renaud.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424). A memorial service will be held at the Bains Corner United Church, Route 111, Bains Corner, NB on Tuesday March 15, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to take place at Brown’s Cemetery, Bains Corner.
