It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our courageous husband, father, grandfather and friend Calvin Pottle at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, on March 12, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.
Calvin was the son of the late Clarence Pottle and Martha (Clark) Pottle.
Calvin was an employee of the CNR as a rail inspector. Upon his retirement he attended UCCB where he obtained a diploma in hospitality, which led him to the Keltic Lodge that held a special place in his heart.
Calvin was a pure gentleman who always had a smile on his face. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing golf with his good friends.
He will be missed by his good friends, Laddie and Shalene Sajatovich; his friend and neighbour, Tom Kauffman, whom he laughed with just about everyday, Gerry and Louise MacNeil, Diane Kendal, what wonderful neighbours you were.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Mary (MacDonald); daughters, Michelle (Gerry) Shanahan, JoAnne (Steve) Floyd, Lynn (Mike) Noonan, Leigh (Vince) Vaters, Donna (Wolfgang) Kruse; his sister, Barbara (Ernie) Parsons; grandchildren, Joe and Erin Shanahan, Stephen and Kristen Floyd, Alexandra and Benjamin Noonan, Jaiden and Alyssa Cruse; great-grandchildren, Caelan Shanahan and Anna Rugani.
Calvin was predeceased by his first wife, Jeanette (Murphy) Pottle.
There will be no visitation upon his request. Cremation has taken place. A private memorial with the family will be held at a later date. A private memorial service with the family will be held at a later date.
