It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Rob Rideout, which occurred Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
A resident of Celtic Court, formerly of North Sydney, Rob was born in North Sydney.
He was the only son of the late John Robert and Myrtle (Blagdon) Rideout.
He was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, North Sydney, and in his younger years belonged to the St. John’s Anglican Church Men’s Club and coached for the North Sydney Little League Association.
Rob owned and operated ESP Graphics Ltd. for 20 years before illness forced him to retire. Rob was an avid bowler, bowling in the Men’s League, Pro League, and Friday Night Mixed Doubles.
He is survived by his loving children, Crystal (Aaron) Fransen of Calgary, Darcy (Michelle) of Sydney, Travis (Katie) of Calgary; the mother of his children, Nonie Rideout of Banff; sisters, Colleen (Howard) Zawacki of Toronto, Roberta Rideout of North Sydney, Cynthia (Raymond) Burton of North Sydney; nieces, April (Chris) Coombs, Tosha Lee Rideout, Samantha Burton; nephews, Raymond Burton Jr. and John Robert (J.R.) Rideout.
Besides his parents, Rob was predeceased by his niece, Cynthia Lynn.
Visitation for the late Rob Rideout will take place tonight (Monday) from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Francis Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 16 at St. John’s Anglican Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Gloria Fraser officiating. Interment in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney, at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
