Swan, G. Ian - Husband, Father and Friend passed away unexpectedly in Colchester Regional Hospital on Friday, March 11 2011 after 76 full and active years. Born in Debert, he was the third son of Albert and Letitia (McGill) Swan. Early schooling took place in Upper Belmont. He attended Colchester County Academy and graduated from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College Advanced Farm Class in 1953. He worked for the NS Department of Agriculture, Soils and Crops Branch for 35 years and the NS Crop Insurance Commission for five years. He was a humble man with many talents whose family always came first. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda; sons, Phillip(Vancouver) and Michael(Toronto)Also survived by older brother Basil, Truro; younger brother Paul, Folly Lake; sister-in-law, Julie Warner-Fairbairn and husband Peter (Ireland). He was predeceased by his parents, sister Enid and eldest brother Calvin. At Ian's request, there will be no funeral; cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro on Tuesday, March 15th from 2 - 4 p.m. No flowers by family request. Donations in Ian's memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Colchester Hospital Foundation.
