Walter Ruszkowski was born near Tarnopol, Poland on Friday, February 13, 1920 to Marjan and Anna Ruszkowski. At the age of nine he immigrated to Canada with his mother, sister Albina and brother Stanley to join their father who had immigrated four years earlier. The family settled and farmed in the Fanford district. Walter married Anne Bondarchuk and soon after they moved to the Colleston district where they raised their daughter Doreen and their son Terry. He was a faithful member of the Crossroads Pentecostal Assembly. After the recent passing of his wife Anne, his health took a turn for the worst and Walter passed away on July 14, 2009. Walter will be missed and fondly remembered by his son Terry (Carol) of Houston, Texas & granddaughters Jill and Kate; his sisters Albina Major and Emily Bissky; his sister-in-law Lillian Lubky; his brother-in-law George Bondarchuk; close friends Kathy and Pastor Ches Jacobs and family; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Anne, his wife of 61 years; his daughter Doreen (Jim) Jones; his parents Marjan and Anna Ruszkowski; his parents-in-law Efem and Tekla Bondarchuk; his brother and sister-in-law Stanley and Phyllis Ruszkowski; his niece Glenyis Bondarchuk and his brothers-in-law Mike Major and Stanford Bissky. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2009 at the Crossroads Pentecostal Assembly, 1510 – Olive Diefenbaker Drive, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Ches Jacobs officiating. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Crossroads Pentecostal Assembly.
