Gladys Dyer
1916 - 2011 - Gladys Eleanor Dyer of Bristol, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on March 12, 2011 at the Riverview Manor in Bath. Born on August 23, 1916, she was the daughter of the late George and Bessie (Harrington) Brown and wife of Rev. Albert Dyer. Gladys graduated from Saint John High School in 1934, and then from Modern Business College in Saint John in 1935. From there she went on to graduate from the Saint John Hospital School of Nursing in 1938. Gladys is survived by her loving husband, Albert; her son, Bruce Fraser Parker and his wife, Dr. Kirsten Parker of Barrie, Ont., their children, Jennifer and her husband, Dr. Wade Mitchell of Collingwood, Ont., Fraser Parker of London, England and Cynthia and her husband, Joshua Oppenhuis of Santa Monica, California; Great-grandchildren, Aidan, Cole, and Piper Mitchell; Daughter, Carolyn Gladys Goodaire (nee Parker) of Saint John, NB and her sons, Timothy Goodaire,his wife Sarah and their daughter, Sydney, Mark Goodarie and his wife Annie of Toronto, Ont.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, first husband Ralph Fraser Parker, Brother Tennyson D. Brown and his wife, Edna.
Visitation will be held from Albert and Gladys’s home at 1 Tapley Rd. Florenceville-Bristol on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 3:00 pm from their home with Rev. Albert Dyer and Rev. Philip Penny officiating. Interment will be in the Bristol Free Will Baptist Cemetery. For those who wish donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Riverview Manor would be appreciated. A celebration of Gladys’s life will be held in Saint John in early June. L.R.
