Hubert Vincent Steeves, age 71, of Sackville, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, March 12, 2011 surrounded by his family. Born in Indian Mountain, NB, he was a son of the late Hubert and Julia (Murray) Steeves. He worked at the Enterprise Foundry all his life. He was a backyard welder and mechanic. He loved baking and sharing his baked goods with family and friends. Having a heart of gold he loved to visit and would do anything for anyone. He will be sadly missed by his wife Myrna, Sackville; sons Mike (Joyce), Dorchester, Mark (Carol), Woodpoint, Matthew (Lisa), Sackville; daughter Mary Leigh (Daniel) LeBlanc, St. George, NB; 16 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; siblings, Thomas (Roberta), Jolicure, Jean (Dave) Ward, Fort Francis, ON, Elizabeth (Raymond) Rogers, Winnipeg, MB, Joan (Dave) Smith, Moncton, Kenneth (Lena), Moncton, Donna (Kyle) Webb, Winnipeg, MB, Ronald (Helen), Moncton, Shirley (Boyd) Wilson, Pickering, ON, Sharon (Dave) Crawford, Berry Mills, NB, Judy (Evan) Bleakney, Sussex, NB, Ruth (Peter) Joudry, Bristow, Virginia, Philip, Dieppe, Julie Steeves, Winnipeg, MB. He was predeceased by infant siblings, Louise, Jimmy and Clarence.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300) where visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 2 pm. Burial will take place in the spring.
