LEWIS: It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Frank Joseph Lewis on July 15, 2009, at the age of 71, in the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Phyllis Evelyn Lewis (Hall), their children; Gwen Fraser (Art), Wendy Cobler (Dwayne) and son Eric Lewis, as well as grandchildren; Matthew, Lisa, Joey, Cory, Jennifer and Jolene. Also surviving are 3 great grandchildren Shae-Lee, Colton, Avaya and one on the way and very special friend Brian Cook; as well as many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Frank is also survived by his sisters Caroline (late Bob MacKenzie), Mary Lewis, Donna (late Douglas Lewis) as well as one surviving brother. Frank was predeceased by his father Joseph and mother Eva Lewis, his sister Nancy (late Peter Lewis) as well as one brother. Frank lived an amazing life and his numerous accomplishments would make a fascinating book. Frank was born in Lewis Mountain, New Brunswick on August 21, 1937. Frank and his family\'s journey to the west began in 1974 when he accepted the position of Assistant Chief Engineer at the Swift Current Agricultural Research Station. Frank took great pleasure in the outdoors including hunting and was an outstanding fisherman, holding a New Brunswick guide license. Frank was famous for his fly-fishing and was well known on the Miramachi River. He fished and guided many people including Gordie Howe, Bobby Orr and Clint Eastwood among others. Frank loved camping, boating, reading and writing, playing cards, pool, photography and had a passion for golf. He was the king of e-mails. Frank was very patriotic and loved his country. He was well versed in politics, locally and nationally and was very knowledgeable on world events both current and historical. Frank held the position of Regional Vice President of the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour. Frank was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Masons, Swift Current Shriners and past Vice President of the Geary Lions Club, in New Brunswick and recently received his fifty year pin. He also was a member of the Swift Current Hockey Hounds. He took great pride in his Harley and his trips to Milwaukee and Sturgis. Frank loved New Brunswick and made many trips back home. Frank enjoyed his children and grandchildren with a deep seated eternal Love. Frank possessed a unique amount of courage, bravery, and dignity and maintained his wit and sense of humor until the end. Frank will be with us, in our memories, forever and will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lung Association.
