ELSIE JENSEN

Mrs. Elsie Anne Jensen (nee Darjes), of Moose Jaw passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on Saturday, March 12, 2011 with family by her side. Born to Norwegian immigrants Otto and Jenny Darjes in Neville, SK Elsie was raised and received her education in Swift Current, SK. It was there that she began her career as a photographer later moving to Regina to work for the Government of Saskatchewan. In 1959 Elsie married Richard Jensen and together they farmed near Stelcam and raised their family in Moose Jaw where they resided. She enjoyed oil painting, ceramics, bowling and in her later years recreation at The Maguire Centre at Providence Place. Elsie is predeceased by her parents, husband Richard and ten brothers and sisters. She is remembered by her daughter Nancy (Jeff) Barber and their children Jeremy and Emily; her son Christian - all of Regina; sisters-in-law Ethel Jensen and Elna Jensen; and special friends Jean and Marian McDougall – all of Moose Jaw; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at W. J. Jones and Son Chapel on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Bob Langdon will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to World Vision Canada, 1 World Drive Mississauga, Ontario L5T 2Y4, would be appreciated. In living memory of Elsie, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
