Passed peacefully away at Hennessey’s Guest Home on Thursday, July 16, 2009, Mary Ellen (Mae) Melvin in her 99th year. Predeceased by husband Alexander Melvin and son Capt. Michael Melvin. Leaving to mourn her sons: Dr. Kevin Melvin (Marilyn) and Capt. Edward Melvin (Betty); daughter, Eileen Hawkin (David); daughter-in-law, Katherine Melvin; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister, Kate Lewis. Heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Hennessey and her staff at Hennessey’s Guest Home for their loving care during her long stay and especially for their compassion and kindness during her final illness. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, and 2-4 p.m. on Sunday. Funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be held from the St. Peter and Paul Parish, Bay Bulls, on Monday, July 20, 2009, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Bay Bulls.
