It is with sad hearts that we announce the death of our mother Josephine (Brooks) Googoo who passed away on March 14, 2011 in QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax.
Born in Pictou, she was a daughter of the late Annie Mae Knockwood.
Mom had many friends and family and held a special place in her heart for all those she loved. She was a mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and she was also considered “Gram” to many of our friends. She loved life, enjoyed gardening, the beach, camping and she took pride in her cooking and loved doing crafts. Her passion for music was very apparent as she was married to two very well known fiddlers and you could always see her smiling listening to her favourite reels. Although we will miss her dearly, her spirit and memories will always be with us.
She is survived by brothers, Allan (Terry) Knockwood, Indian Brook, David Knockwood, Pictou Landing; sister, Jennie Rose Julien, Indian Brook; step-sisters, Lorraine Therrian, Florida, Barbara Thibideau, Florida, Jackie Sark, Montreal; brother-in-law, Joe J. (Virginia) Googoo, Eskasoni; daughters, Lavinia Brooks, Wanda Brooks (Ben) and Diana Brooks, all of Millbrook; grandchildren, Amanda, Suzanne, Joshua, Christopher, Kara, Siobhan, Kayla, Lyndon; great-grandchildren, Kayne, Reese, Braelyn, Vienna; special friends, Dan J. and Juanita Paul and family, Whycocomagh; several nieces and nephews.
Josephine was predeceased by her husbands, Wilfred Brooks and Frank Googoo; brother, Patrick Knockwood; sister, Mary Paul.
Visitation will be held at Josephine’s home, 34 Brooks Lane, Millbrook beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011, until the time of the funeral mass on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Millbrook.
Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
