Edna Mitchell

(1920-2011) - SOUTH BRANCH, NB - Edna Mae Mitchell, wife of the late Alfred Mitchell (2000) passed away March 16th, 2011 at the Moncton Hospital with family at her side. Born in Galloway, NB, September 1st, 1920 to the late Hilda Little and late Fred Brown. She was a resident of South Branch, NB for over 70 years where she was a very active member in her community. She was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church in West Branch where she was involved in the Atlantic Mission Society, Happy Stitchers and various organizations. Edna will be sadly missed by her seven daughters; Martha Hoy (Roger) of West Gardiner, Maine, Audrey Savoy of Tillsonburg, ON, Helen Struckmeyer (Robert) of Dawsonville, Georgia, Brenda Slate (James) of Lynnfield, MASS, Linda Chavarie (Arthur) of Moncton, Ruth Banks (Bill) of Moncton, Angela Puska (Douglas) of Danvers, MASS, three sons; Everett Mitchell (Patricia) of Salem, MASS, William Harvey Mitchell (Amy) of Columbia, Maryland, Lawrence Mitchell of South Branch, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, friends, and her life time friend; Irma Robertson. Edna was predeceased by two sisters; Margaret and Barbara and one grandson; Jamie Banks.
Resting at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto with visitation on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 19th, 2011 at 11:00 am, Zion Presbyterian Church, West Branch officiated by Reverend Sandy Sutherland. Interment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. Donations to the Zion Presbyterian Church or charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
