Mary Victoria MacLean, 89, of Sydney, passed away peacefully in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Monday, March 14, 2011.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Mary Katherine MacLean.
Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Sydney, and a former member of St. Mary’s Church, Big Pond, where she was raised, then moved to Sydney and worked as a housekeeper for many years.
She will be remembered for her humbleness and kindness that she shared with all who new her.
She is survived by a niece, Cathy (Rudy) Poitras, Maine; and a nephew, Michael (Cynthia) MacLean, New Hampshire; three greatnephews and several cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Theresa MacLean and a brother, Michael MacLean.
Visitation for Mary will be held Friday, March 18 from 11 a.m. until the funeral time at 12 p.m. both in St. Mary’s Church, Big Pond, with Fr. Joe Gillis officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney.
