Gladys Estella Smith (Sears) passed away peacefully at the Meadows Long Term Care Centre, Ancaster, ON on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008 in her 96th year. Born in Amherst, NS, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Marg Estella (Connors) Peck. She was a member of the St. Dominics Church CWL.

Gladys is survived by a sister, Mary Creed of PEI and a brother Charles H. Peck of Amherst, NS; a daughter, Sheila Burgess of Oakville, ON; 2 sons, Leonard Sears, Hamilton, ON and Roderick (Helen) Sears of Oakville, ON; 10 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Garnet Sears and her second husband, John Smith, sisters, Violet Follett and Lillian Legacy and brothers, Gordon, Freddy and Harold

Amherst funeral arrangements have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home (667-8777). A graveside service will be held at the St. Charles - Nativity Cemetery, Amherst on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 10 am. www.furlongjones.ca
