It is with great sadness we announce the death of Elizabeth Ellen Rector, 61 of Amherst and formerly of Gondola Point/Saint John, NB on Friday, July 17, 2009 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan with her loving family by her side, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Halifax, NS, she was a daughter of Kenneth E.R. and Greta M. (Chandler) Wagner of Bridgetown, NS.
Elizabeth attended Gander Collegiate and Dartmouth High School from where she graduated and moved on to studying at the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing (RN-Class of 1969).
She enjoyed many years vacationing with family and friends in Fundy National Park, NB, and fishing trips on the Miramichi. Elizabeth also found great joy in craftwork of all types and with two friends operated "Baskets From The Heart" in Gondola Point for several years. No matter what the situation, she always had a positive outlook.
Elizabeth was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 40 years, Eric H., of Amherst; son, Timothy of Chalk River, ON; daughter, Angela (Travis) Myers of Moncton, NB; grandchildren, Amy and Jennifer Rector of Chalk River, ON and Cole and Leona Myers of Moncton, NB; brother in law, Joe (Lynn) Rector of Quispamsis, NB; as well as numerous Wagner and Chandler, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was predeceased by her younger brother, Gregory.
Cremation has taken place.
Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation held at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from First Baptist Church, Amherst, with Rev. Don Miller officiating. Reception to follow in the church vestry.
Donations in Elizabeth's memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Cumberland VON or the First Baptist Church, Amherst.
