ARNOLD (ARNE) BERG, born July 14, 1931 in Assiniboia, Sask. passed away July 17, 2009. He moved with his family in 1933 to a farm near Eldersley, Sask. and in November 1944, moved with the family to Moose Jaw where he completed grade eight at Prince Arthur School, high school at Central Collegiate and one year of training at the Moose Jaw Normal School. He received his Bachelor of Education in 1956, Bachelor of Arts in 1961 from the University in Saskatoon and one year of post graduate studies at York University in Toronto in 1968. He worked as a teacher or administrator in a number of schools in Saskatchewan, Ontario, Germany and British Columbia. He retired as assistant Head of the English Department in Sutton West, Ontario in 1987. In 1954 he married the love of his life, Lois LaSalle. Lois graduated as a nurse from Providence Hospital School of Nursing when they began their life together. Their holidays were usually spent traveling - and they traveled a great deal throughout western and northern Europe, the Middle East, the Far East and, of course, Canada. Arne was predeceased by Lois in 1981, his parents, Inga and Andrew Berg, sister, Marion, mother and father-in-law, Jean and Benny Borgerson; sister-in-law Helen Hooper and her brother Jim LaSalle and sister-in-law Thelma Ruthven. Arne is survived by his brother-in-law RJ Ruthven, nephews Randy (Shelley), Calvin (Marianne), niece Val, great-nephews Chris, Terry, Jeff and Clay Ruthven, great-niece Rachel Ruthven, and great-great-nieces Josie, Brooklyn, Shelby and Jorja and great-great-nephews Kaleb and Jesse. Since retiring to Moose Jaw Arne travelled a bit, served on several boards including the Moose Jaw Exhibition Board, Focus on Trade, Moose Jaw Public and Palliser Region Libraries and the Foundation for Centre in the Park. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 455 Fairford St.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1H3. In living memory of Arne, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J.
