Mrs. Mary Burt, 87, formerly of Water Street, Glace Bay, died peacefully at the Glace Bay Hospital on Sunday, July 19, 2009, surrounded by family and friends.
Mary had been living with her son Bernie on Dominion Street, Glace Bay.
She was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Deveaux) Driscoll of Wallace Road.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Dave and by her son, Bob.
Mary is survived by seven sons and two daughters, Gordon (Cheryl), George, Donald (Louise), David (Barbara), Jake and Darrell (Cynthia) all of Ontario, Bernie (Mary), Glace Bay; daughters, Alice (Bernie Burke) and Mary (Keith Murrin), residing in Ontario. Mary is also survived by one brother, Mike, Kitchener, Ont.; and by five sisters, Tillie (Joe Mercer) Glace Bay, Catherine (Nick Dawson), Sydney, Josephine (Ken Wolstenholm), Theresa MacSavaney and Sophie Peters, Kitchener, Ont. Also surviving is sister-in-law, Shirley Driscoll.
Mary will be sadly missed by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially her grandsons, Robbie and Jamie.
Visitation for Mary Burt will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, N.S. Funeral service will be held Thursday 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Marconi Street. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Glace Bay.
