Gerald Kennedy
NEW GLASGOW – Gerald Mervyn Kennedy, 84, of Munroe Avenue, New Glasgow, passed away March 17, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Westville, on February 5, 1927, he was a son of the late Duncan and Cora (Salter) Kennedy.
Gerald had worked at Maritime Steel in New Glasgow for over 40 years as a charge hand. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow and the Euclid Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife the former Frances (Oliver), New Glasgow; sons, Charles Duncan, New Glasgow; Gerald Howard Jr., Red Deer, Alberta; twin daughters, Margaret Ann Kennedy (Kelvin Stewart), Merigomish; and Mary Beth Meerman (Bill), Kentville; a granddaughter, Emily Kate MacQuarrie; a brother, Raeburn (Elizabeth), Abercrombie.
He was predeceased by a brother, Henry and a sister, Clara.
His remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for visiting from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson presiding. Burial will take place in the Abercrombie Cemetery at a later date.
