William A. "Brud" Hayes 65 years of Springhill, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the Late Raymond A. and Beatrice J. (Johnson) Hayes.
He was educated in the Springhill school system then joined the Royal Canadian Navy for 3 years followed by a 30 year career with Corrections Canada. Brud enjoyed reading, watching the news, drives in the car with his wife, his family and friends.
He will be sadly missed by his wife the former Shelley Clarke; daughters, Shannon Hayes, Toronto and Kim (Carl Jr.) Black, Springhill; son, Troy, Springhill; sister, Carole (Fred) Davis, Amherst; brother, Jim, Toronto; grandson Nicholas; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister Donna Henwood.
Arrangements have been entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) where visitation will be held 7 - 9 pm, Saturday, March 19, 2011. Following cremation a Memorial Service will be held from the Funeral Home at 3:30 pm, Monday, March 21, 2011 with Father David MacDonald officiating. Burial in North Street Roman Catholic Cemetery, Springhill, at a later date.
