John Joseph Doucette, 73 of Membertou, passed peacefully away on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Joseph and Isabel (Johnson) Doucette.
He was a member of St. Anne's Church and St. Anthony Daniel parish. John served in the Canadian Militia. For many years he worked at Modern Aluminum. He also worked as a carpenter. John made many pilgrimages to St. Anne de Beaupré. He will be missed at the gaming buildings where he loved to hang out and share his sense of humour.
Left to mourn are his daughters Kathleen (John), Ann Marie (Ronnie); sons, Mark (Melanie), Rick (Lillian) and Steve (Shannon), all of Membertou. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, Kaitlyn, Nathan, Hunter, Carter and Alexavier. Also by his godchildren, Bub Kabatay, Alfred Kabatay, Clayton Christmas, Cecilia Christmas and Cindy Kabatay. He will be missed by his good buddies Charlie Herney and Francis Googoo and by his extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Pauline (Hunt) Doucette and godchild Peter Kabatay.
Visitation for John Joseph Doucette will take place at the family residence, 15 Gallagher St., Membertou on Tuesday after 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 23 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anthony Daniel Church with Rev. Donald MacGillivary officiating. Interment in Membertou Memorial Gardens.
