1923-2011. Born in St. John’s, NL, Clarence Pope, aged 87 years, passed peacefully away on March 16, 2011 after a short illness. Predeceased by his sisters Dorothy Hodder and Sarah Windsor. Leaving to mourn his loss his loving daughter, Robin (Michael) de Verteuil and her mother, Dorothy Pope. Precious grandsons: Nicholas (Vanessa) and Trevor. Also leaving to mourn his companion Lorraine Downton and her family, as well as nephews, nieces and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Clarence was a St. John’s businessman known province wide. He started in business through Universal Agencies and eventually began his own successful agency selling such items as telephone poles, lumber, furniture and coal. Clarence obtained his Mortuary Science through Eckels College in Philadelphia. He supplied all funeral homes throughout NL and Bermuda. He introduced the first crematorium to NL at Carnell’s Funeral Home. Clarence has a long and successful career. Clarence was also a longtime member of the Masonic Fraternity St. John’s Lodge #1. Thank you to St. Clare’s Hospital 6 East, Nurses and Dr. Mann for their loving care, also the PCU Team, Dr. MacDonald and Carmel Collins for their constant support. Thank you to Sylvia at TLC for Clarence’s personal nurses Barbara and Denise. The family will receive visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Saturday, March 19, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9. A Service to celebrate Clarence’s life will be held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on
