It is with great sadness, that we the family, announce the passing of our dear mother Teresa Ann ‘Tootsie’ Fraser on Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Castle Bay, she was the daughter of the late Alexander R. and Elizabeth (Farrell) MacNeil of Big Pond.
Teresa was employed for 23 years at the Cape Breton Hospital retiring in 1981.
A loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and sister, she is survived by son Donald (Francine), Portage, with whom she resided for 4 1/2 years before moving to Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Levattes Lane nine months ago; daughter Mary (Angus) MacDonald, Ottawa Brook; sisters, Irene Ruelland, Christine (Lloyd) White, Margaret (Bill) MacInnis, Charlotte (Walter) Mulak; brother, Stan (Gwen) MacNeil; sisters-in-law, Eileen and Evelyn; brother-in-law Johnny Murphy; grandchildren James (Kelly), Michelle, Marlene (Gary), Charlene (Robert), Tanya (John) and great grandchildren Michael, Kyle, Allison, Michael and Maren.
She was predeceased by her husband Daniel; brothers, Malcolm, Pius, Hugh, John and Francis; sisters, Mary Lalo and Bernadette Murphy.
There will b e no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, East Bay with Fr. Frank Abbass officiating. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the St. Mary’s Church Renovation Fund.
